# Keep notes when you check a competitor's LinkedIn ads

A LinkedIn ad check is only useful if you can repeat it next month. The trick is to write down the settings, because searches with different settings are not comparable.

LinkedIn's Ad Library search form has five inputs: keyword, company or advertiser, payer, country and time period. The [LinkedIn ads library](https://adslibrary.org/linkedin-ads-library) page on AdsLibrary.org builds the search for you and opens it on LinkedIn's site.

A simple note for each check:

- **Advertiser:** the company name you typed.
- **Country:** set one; leaving it open makes later checks hard to compare.
- **Period:** start with this year, then the last 30 days.
- **Keyword:** a product word, if the company runs many campaigns.
- **Payer:** worth trying when you know who pays for a brand's ads.
- **What you saw:** formats, headline angles and calls to action.

Next month, run the same settings and compare. If you also want the Meta side of a brand, the [AdsLibrary.org](https://adslibrary.org/) home page has one search box for each library.

AdsLibrary.org is an independent third-party site, not affiliated with or endorsed by Meta, TikTok, Google, LinkedIn or Microsoft.
