# Text-to-video or image-to-video: which should you start with?

Both produce a clip. They differ in who decides the look.

**Text-to-video** invents the composition. Good when you have an idea but no visuals: a mood piece, a concept, a scene that does not exist yet. You trade control for imagination.

**Image-to-video** inherits yours. Good when the frame already matters: a product, a portrait, a brand illustration, a location photo. The model adds motion, not a new design.

Quick rule of thumb:
- Nothing to show yet? Write a prompt.
- Already have the shot? Animate it.
- Need both? Generate a still with an image model, approve it, then animate that still.

The last route is easy when image and video live in one workspace with one credit balance. [Vorapix](https://vorapix.ai/) works that way, and its [AI video generator](https://vorapix.ai/ai-video-generator) covers both entry points, from 480p drafts to 4K finals.

Vorapix is an independent AI studio; Kling, Seedance, Grok Imagine and Nano Banana are third-party models, and their makers are not affiliated with Vorapix.
