# PolyTrack route reconnaissance checklist

On the first lap, identify the next turn and checkpoint. You are collecting route information.

## A repeatable practice loop

Choose one short section and make a slow reconnaissance attempt. Notice where the route changes direction and where the next checkpoint sits. On the next attempt, change one decision: lift earlier, make a smaller steering correction, or approach a jump more squarely. Repeat long enough to understand the effect before trying another change.

## Controls and course resources

For the version described here, accelerate with W or the up arrow, brake with S or the down arrow, and steer with A/D or the left and right arrows. R or Enter resets to a checkpoint; T or Backspace restarts from the beginning. A reload ends the current run and is a loading troubleshooting step.

[The PolyTrack](https://thepolytrack.com/) is an independent fan site with an embedded third-party PolyTrack 0.5.0 player, controls help, and a directory of 15 official and 15 community tracks. PolyTrack is by Kodub. The site is not the official game developer, and 0.5.0 is not the latest release.

## When using a community code

Copy the complete code, then use Play → Import inside the game. Copying on the website does not load a course into the player. Keep the original source and code for later: browser storage may not follow you to another device. Compatibility can vary by game version. Use a connection where playing is permitted.

## Summary
To master PolyTrack, perform slow reconnaissance laps to identify checkpoints and refine your driving decisions one at a time. Use the provided keyboard controls to navigate, and remember to manually import community track codes into the game menu.

## Themes
- PolyTrack gameplay strategy
- Route reconnaissance techniques
- Game control reference
- Community track management

## Key takeaways
- The first lap of a track should be used to identify upcoming turns and checkpoints. Players can adjust their performance by modifying braking points, steering inputs, or jump approaches. Controls include W/Up for acceleration, S/Down for br

## Insights
- Effective practice involves isolating a single variable for adjustment rather than changing multiple driving behaviors at once. Browser storage for custom track codes is local and does not sync across different hardware devices. The embedde

## Open questions / gaps
- What are the specific differences between version 0.5.0 and the latest release of PolyTrack?
